นิทานอีสป The ant and the pigeon มดกับนกพิราบ

วันหนึ่งในฤดูร้อน มดตัวหนึ่งไต่ไปที่ริมธารเพื่อจะดื่มน้ำ แต่มันพลาดตงลงไปในน้ำ ไม่สามารถจะตะเกียกตะกายขึ้นมาได้ นกพิราบตัวหนึ่งเห็นมดตกอยู่ในอันตราย "ฉันต้องช่วยมดนั่น" มันว่า
"ถ้าฉันจิกเอาใบไม้นี้ทิ้งลงไปในน้ำใบไม้อาจจะเป็นเหมือนเรือเล็กๆ ของเขา"
คิดดังนั้นแล้ว นกพิราบก็จิกใบไม้หย่อนลงไปในน้ำ และมดก็ไต่ขึ้นมาอยู่บนใบไม้นั้นได้
"ขอบใจคุณพิราบ" มดกล่าว "สักวันหนึ่ง ฉันคงจะช่วยคุณได้บ้าง"
ต่อมาไม่นาน ชายผู้หนึ่งผ่านมาทางนั้น พร้อมคันธนูและลูกธนู
เขามองเห็นนกพิราบอยู่บนต้นไม้ เขาจึงค่อยๆ เข้าไปแล้วง้างธนูขึ้นเพื่อจะยิงนก
ขณะเดียวกันมดน้อยตัวนั้นก็ผ่านมาถึงที่นั่น มันจึงตรงเข้ากัดขาของชายผู้นั้นทันที เล่นเอาชายผู้นั้นถึงกับกระโดดโหยงเพราะเจ็บ
และลูกะนูของเขาก็แล่นขึ้นไปสู่ท้องฟ้า พลาดเป้าหมายคือนกพิราบไปเสีย
ดังนั้นนกพิราบจึงบินหนีรอดพ้นอันตรายไปได้ "ขอบใจมากนะ พ่อมดน้อย"

นกพิราบร้องบอก "เธอได้ช่วยฉันเป็นการตอบแทนคุณแล้ว"

นิทานเรื่องนี้สอนให้รู้ว่า
ใหญ่หรือเล็กแค่ไหนก็เป็นประโยชน์ได้ทั้งนั้น

One summer day, an ant walked to the edge of the stream to drink water. But it fell into the stream.It could not get off the water by itself.A pigeon saw the ant in danger."I must help that ant," said the pigeon."If I drop this leaf into the stream, the ant can climp up on the leaf. The leaf would be like its little boat."
Thinking so, the pigeon picked up the leaf, and droped it into the stream. And the ant climbed up on that leaf."Thank you Mr.pigon" said the ant, " One day I might be able to help."
Soon, a man passed that way with a bow and the arrows.He saw the pigeon in the tree.He then carefully sstepped forwrd.He drew his bow to shoot the pigeon.In the meantime, that little ant came around.It head stright toward the man's leg for a quick bite, The man painfully jumped! And his arrow flew up to the sky.He missed the targeted pigeon. So, the pigeon flew away from danger. "Thank you, very much, little ant," The pigeon said. "you have helped me.You have paid your grattitude."
